Who was playing in the first games you went to see...?
My Dad took me to Arsenal V Bolton Wanderers and Nat Lofthouse was playing for Bolton and Vic Groves and Jack Kelsey for Arsenal.

Next game I went to Fulham and Jimmy Hill (Yes fucking Jimmy Hill) Johny Haynes and Tosh Chamberlain were playing.

The first time I went to West Ham Allison Cantwell and Harry Hooper were in the team.

Fuck me I am old.

First game was v Chelsea in 1975 just before the cup final. Curbishley made his debut. We had our famous players of the time, Lampard, Brooking, Bonds etc. And I saw absolutely nothing.

I was at that game as well. We lost 1-0 and for some reason we played in white.

I was at the Arsenal game. Woodcock scored for them after controlling it with his hand. I remember Martin going off for treatment to a head injury and the Arsenal fans thinking he was sent off, but that might have been the next season.

16/09/1989 away to Brighton. Lost 3-0 with this team;

Phil Parkes
Steve Potts
Julian Dicks
Tony Gale
Alvin Martin
Martin Allen
Liam Brady
Kevin Keen
George Parris
Stuart Slater
Mark Ward

No rcognised strikers!

Things I remember most from that day;

Parkes being beaten on the near post, shortly after my Dad advised me to watch how the best play in goal.

Standing amongst loads of pissed blokes. The smell of beer, burgers and farts was astounding.

Seeing a few kncuklesdusters on the floor as we were leaving.
